Fall protection is an employee’s right and hence the proper prevention measures should be observed by all in every organization. Falls are likely to take place at work place especially where construction tasks are going on. Actually, these should not be taken lightly since even falling off a ladder may lead to death. It does not matter the kind of industry you are working for, protection against all potential falls must be highly observed. This protection is very important and hence all employers need to set up favorable working environments in such a way that the workers are protected from falling into ditches that may be left on the floor surface and at the walls too. This protection helps in preventing serious injuries at the workplace that could amount even to loss of lives. Yes, not all falls turn out to be accidental as some of them are due to ignorance on the part of the employer.

What should be observed to reduce or prevent falls at a work place

  • Ensure that all workers are regularly trained on all potential job hazards. The training should be conducted in a simple layman’s language which every individual can easy comprehend.
  • Personal protective wear and equipment should be provided to each and every worker at no fee. The said safety equipments should be placed at strategic points in the workplace.
  • The working area should be hygienically maintained. In simple terms, the working area should be kept dry and clean at all times.
  • The working conditions that are offered by the organization needs to be free from any possible risks.
  • Workers should at all times observe professionalism in their day to day work undertakings. This can greatly help in achieving the best protection against dangers that may occur in the workplace such as falls and the likes.
  • Opt to work in a company that is ISO certified. A right choice of company will greatly help in identifying if there are any hazards at the place of work and if it will work with you in amending the risks.
  • Employees have the right to complain if the company they work for does not observe safety protection measures or are not adhered to. Once a complaint is made by the workers, the right investigator must be chosen to come and inspect the workplace so as to see if indeed the employer is violating the law against the workers by not offering the right safety protection measures. It is therefore essential for every organization to offer safety standards to its employees or else it can be on the wrong side with the law.
  • Choose an instructor who uses an efficient safety training program. It would be convenient to go for one that offers online training program since each employee will be capable of accessing the program at his or her own convenient time.
